BJP defeat - Is employee wrath one of the reason?

The BJP seems to have invited the wrath of central government employees living in the national capital with some of its non-populist measures.  The forceful implementation of the in and out timings via bio-metric devices have deeply annoyed substantive sections of government employees.

They were extremely upset that they even had to report to work on Gandhi Jayanti for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s cherished Swacch Abhiyan, and also about the rigour some of them had to undergo for his other pet schemes like Jan Dhan Yojna and ensuring that his interaction with children went live on Teachers Day. There were rumors that BJP government would reduce retirement age to 58 like the newly elected BJP government in Haryana did it two months ago.

There are about seven lakh central government employees in Delhi – 30% of them women – and party strategists fear other voters in these families also voted against the BJP.

The Narendra Modi government’s decision on biometric attendance making it mandatory for government employees to mark their attendance sharply at 9 in the morning upset women employees, a union minister said.

“During campaigning for Delhi elections, we realised that women employees were upset as it was becoming difficult for them to manage household affairs and reach office sharply at 9 am. They were clearly against us,” the minister told.

The non committal on matters like DA merger, interim relief etc. also would have contributed for the employees turning against the BJP.

  1. Yes, It is true, the deafeat of BJP in Delhi was because of employees wrath. Hon’ble Prime Minister Sh. Narendra Modi has not yet taken appropriate action for justified to lakhs of LDC of Govt. of India for upgradation of their Grade Pay from Rs.1900/- to Rs.2800/-. The matter is genuine and justified. How to LDC get benefit only Rs.100/- after given their regular service of 10 years. The present grade pay is only Rs.100/- more to MTS staff (earlier group D staff) and large numbers of MTS (group D staff) are getting more payment with more grade pay of Rs.2000/- and Rs.2400/- respectively. At present the status of LDC is same as Sweeper. The matter is so essential but government is not taking action to correct till date. The Govt. should take appropriate action to give Achhe Din to lakhs of LDC and their family at the earliest.

  2. I am agreed with comment of Sh. PK Singh that, 100% true, BJP defeats in Delhi and continuously declining the graph of popularity and vote bank not in Delhi all over the Country. If BJP take suitable and appropriate action to justice to lakhs of LDC of Govt. of India for upgradation of their Grade Pay to Rs.2800/- with effect from 1.6.2006 the situation will be change and BJP will be top of the Political Party in the Nation.

The lower level Govt. employee including LDC are also facing lot of financial problems to maintain their family expenditure like fooding, cloths, school fees etc. because paying huge House Rent not less then 40% of their salary and getting only 10% as HRA in Z class city. It is also cause of depression with govt.

  5. Implementation of new pension scheme is the major cause for the dejection. The best part of any govt. job was the pension. We can discharge the responsibility given by govt without any worry about the future after retirement. But the NPA made govt. employees stranded and they stand in a gloomy, hapless state after retirement. Many schemes where NPA amount is deposited by government shows negative growth.

  6. Shri Pillai Sir, I request all Associations, Confederations, National JCM to pressurise the Govt for implementation of flexi hours i.e. 8 hours between 08:30 hrs to 1900 hrs. If any employee comes late, he will work for extra proportionate to late comings. In winters, due to fog, even buses will be moving slowly, traffic jams etc. All employees are not provided by the Govt. Accommodation. It is the need of the hour to implement flexi-hours as prevailed in the private sector. It is also requested that the employees having thier own house in NCR Delhi, they should not be allotted Govt accommodation.
